Good morning! We’re talking about courage, and what it means to take your stand. Let me give you another example that helps us stand courageously, and that is to trust even when you don’t see results.
Now think about that for a minute. It’s one thing to trust God, take your stand and do the right thing if I am assured that it’s going to turn out okay. If I’m assured that I’m still going to get that promotion, my kids are going to turn out alright and everything is still going to be good. Well sure, I’ll take my stand, but when I’m not so sure about that or even when I don’t see those things happen, for me to continue to take a stand, well, that takes courage.
That’s what these three young, Hebrew men did. They took their stand and the king said, you’re going in the furnace if you do this. And this is what they said, Our God, whom we serve, is able to deliver us. He will deliver us out of your hand, but if not, we will not serve your Gods or worship your image. They said we believe God is going to intervene; we believe God is going to take care of us, but if not, we’re still not going to bow. WOW! That is courage!
Let me ask you something, do you have faith in God that says, God, I’m going to trust you. I believe in your power, but if not, if you don’t intervene, if you don’t bring healing, if you don’t give me that job, if this marriage doesn’t work out, if this situation doesn’t go the way I want it to go, if I don’t get that promotion or if my kids don’t ever get straightened out, I’m still going to serve you. But if not, that is courage that is founded on the character of Jesus regardless of the circumstances. That’s what I’m praying for you. I’m praying that you’ll have a, but if not, kind of courage today.
