Attitude by December 10, 2014

Good morning!  We’re talking about honor, and how to get honor into your home.  Yesterday I said that genuine affection is a great way to do that.  #2 is to have a positive attitude.

Romans 12:12 says, Rejoice in hope.  Be patient in affliction.  Be constant in prayer.  I love those words:  patient, rejoicing and prayerful.  You know if you circle those words in your mind, that’s what it looks like to have a positive attitude.

Let me ask you, are you rejoicing when you’re at home?  I’m not saying that you need to go from room to room singing or whatever, but do you look at things in a positive light and rejoice in the wins?

You know so many times we look through negative and critical eyes.  He never comes home on time.  She never has the house clean.  My kids never do this right, and we tend to only pick out the things that are negative.  A person with a positive attitude finds the positive things and points out, Hey, you’re really good at that!  That shows a lot of initiative on that homework – I’m proud of you!  Thank you Honey for doing the things you do for me.  Babe, thank you for getting that for me.  When you look and call out and rejoice in the positive things, that creates a positive attitude.

The other thing is just being patient when someone in your family does something wrong or doesn’t respond the way you want, instead of biting their head off or attacking, you are patient.  Have a long fuse, and let things roll off your back so that you keep the atmosphere and the attitude positive in your home.

The last thing is being prayerful.  Pray for your husband.  Pray for your wife.  Pray for your kids, and pray for your parents.  Pray for the people in your life.  If you do those things, rejoice and call out the good things, be patient when people let you down and pray on all occasions for them and over them, you’ll begin to see honor begin to billow up in your home. So try that today!
